Global Rahmah Foundation: Water Project
We at GRF are committed to helping people who cannot help themselves. We work around the world, helping the most needy and vulnerable people, who would otherwise not have the care they need, the food they eat, the shelter where they sleep or the happiness they so desperately seek. Our aim is to help as many people as possible, and shine a light in when they are surrounded by darkness.
Water shortages and poor water sanitation are responsible for 3.5 million deaths globally each year. So many people do not have access to clean drinking water, something we take for granted. A major water shortage in many countries means many families are drinking unsafe water. From building a well, to giving someone a fresh water tank, you can do something to help. The most basic necessity is dismally absent from the lives of so many.
Gaza is suffering through an ongoing water crisis. Most of the water in Gaza is unsuitable for human consumption. It has been reported that in a few years, Gaza will be left without any safe drinking water altogether. GRF works on the ground to provide families with water tanks, which we refill on a weekly basis with fresh drinking water. We also provide schools, mosques and medical centres with clean drinking water, but there is still a massive shortage.
Syrian & Palestinian Refugees
Jordan and Lebanon are home to millions of Syrian and Palestinian refugees living in dire conditions, with limited access to clean, safe drinking water among other basic necessities. GRF provide the residents of these camps with drinking water. We build communal water filtration systems, which purify water for a small area. Its residents fill up their canisters daily and use it for cooking and drinking. It serves hundreds of people on a daily basis and will do for many years.
